This Saturday, 7th of May, St. John Ambulance Cork, welcome teams from our fellow divisions across the country, to Cork, for the annual Cork Senior Competitions. This is a favourite fixture in the Brigade competition calendar, and all competitors relish the opportunity to travel down to compete and to socialise. We at St. John Ambulance Cork, pride ourselves on creating the most realistic scenarios, to ensure that competitors get as close to a real-life experience as possible. We have members who have received specialised training in the make-up of fake injuries, such as that of the lower arm (left). Our Officer in charge of Competitions, Mr. Sean O’Reilly works tirelessly to think of hypothetical scenarios to challenge all competitors, while keeping the scenarios fair for all. We welcome all adjudicators and stewards, to help keep the day running smoothly, and downtime to a minimum. We enjoyed a large turnout at the competitions last year with a view to improving on that this year. Every technique that our competitors use to help a person in need on the competition floor can be learned in a simple first aid course, or occupational first aid course. If you would like to learn these skills and one day form part of a team on the competition floor, St John Ambulance Cork would like to hear from you! Please contact us using the button above, for queries about first aid courses.
